HCS | Center Sizer
Product Description
HAZEMAG Center Sizer | HCS
The HAZEMAG HCS center sizer offers an excellent solution for the primary and secondary processing of raw materials typically associated with quarries and mines within the aggregate, cement, and mineral industries. The proven benefit of the HCS sizer is its ability to deal with difficult materials such as clays. It offers an excellent solution for the processing of quarried materials such as limestone, with or without clay inclusions, high moisture conditions, a feed stream that contains a high percentage of fines and larger feed materials up to 3m3. Producers around the world have benefited from its very heavy-duty design, innovative features, excellent technology, and proven application success.
Equipment
The operating principle of the sizer is based on twin, counter rotating rotors that operate at identical speeds. During the crushing process, the rotors work in unison, generating an uninterrupted, continuous mechanical force, ensuring its smooth operation and performance. Sizers in general are typically utilized in applications in which the generation of fines is desired to be limited. They are often applied for the processing of clays, a unique and difficult material where the sizer performs excellently. Due to the sizers, design and open passage system, finer materials easily flow through the sizer quickly. This in turn results in very high capacities within a relatively compact system. In general, the HAZEMAG HCS center sizer delivers.
The HAZEMAG Sizer meets these requirements and is characterized by the following points:
- low specific energy demand
- high to very high throughput rate
- intelligent design
- simple maintenance
- high variety of crushing tools
- cubicle product with minimal fines
- trouble – free operation with very sticky and moist materials
- applicable for adhesive feed material

The design and operational features of the HCS center sizer truly remain second to none. The success of the HAZEMAG HCS center sizer is realized in its ability to process a range of raw materials, for example:
- Limestone
- Limestone with clay
- Clay
- Gypsum

General Operation & Breaking Action
The crushing rolls consist of rolls with crushing rings which are fitted with exchangeable crushing caps. The two crushing rolls turn towards each other, and as a result, the roll body and crushing segments subject the material to multiple stress points. These rollers are designed to stand up to the high crushing forces and maintain consistent crushing.
Three-stage Breaking Action
Initially, the material is gripped by the leading faces of opposed roll teeth. These subject the rock to multiple point loading, inducing stress into the material to exploit any natural weaknesses.
Housing System / Main Frame
The HCS center sizer housing and its drive support platform are designed and fabricated as a heavy-duty, very rugged system that has proven to be suitable for the most difficult applications. For protection, the housing system is fitted with wear resistant, exchangeable liners. Some notable features of the HCS housing are:
- Solid, extra heavy-duty housing front wall that will absorb the stress and forces that are generated during the crushing process.
- A very heavy-duty, welded steel side wall construction that is fitted with wear liners and exchangeable scrapers that help to serve the purpose of keeping the rotor free from blockage and buildup (mostly associated with clays).
- Front and rear wall protection; liners that serve to protect the bearings and adjustment of the breaker bar at the discharge side of the sizer.
MASSIVE CRUSHING ROLLS
Crushing Rolls: The heart and most severely tested part of the HCS center sizer is its massive crushing rolls. Its crushing teeth are arranged or positioned in a helical pattern, ensuring the proper gripping of large feed materials. Due to its heavy construction and massive design, the HCS center sizer operates in a smooth, uninterrupted manner.
Shaft: The crushing roll shaft is produced from tempered steel and is quenched. It is designed as a form-fit system where the crushing ring and shaft are hexagonal for optimum strength and torque.
ROLL LOCKING DEVICE
With safety in mind, the crushing rolls can be locked or secured into position for safe inspections or maintenance. This roll locking device is integrated into the crusher interlocking system.
CAP SYSTEM
- Crushing teeth cap mounted on crushing ring
with patent-registered form-fit-system
by HAZEMAG - Crushing ring with three or four teeth
- Crushing ring material out of high tensile strength
quenched and tempered steel, under ambient
temperature weldable - Wedge principle for connection
- Easy maintenance
REPLACEABLE WEAR CAP
BREAKER BAR
Adjustable & Fitted with Replaceable Wear Caps
The adjustable breaking bar facilitates and helps to control the product size leaving the HCS Center Sizer. Its design is one that can be adjusted, lowered to reduce the crushing effect or raised to increase the crushing effect. In addition, further crushing or product size control is realized by the intersection or path-way of the crushing roll teeth related to the breaker bar caps. The crushing roll teeth are positioned so that they pass through or between the breaker bar teeth. The result is a higher level of control, ensuring that oversize lumps are further reduced as the teeth and caps intersect each other. The final result is a cubical product with minimal fines.
Drive System
The direct drive consists of electric motor, fluid coupling and gear. The fluid coupling provides excellent protection against blows and impacts in heavy-duty use and therefore serves as overload protection. If a non-breakable tramp metal enters the machine, the fluid coupling will disconnect the drive from the crushing rolls.
Flywheel (optional)
Assembly for homogeneous crushing
- Reduction of torque peaks for the motor
- Reduction of current peaks for the motor
- Balances the grid (peaks)
- Provides immediate power for crushing
- action
- Adapter system with adjustable flywheel
- masses (number of disk is variable)
Mechanical Gear Coupling
Offers the advantage of a Crushing Roll Change out in 3 steps:
1. Reduction of oil level in the gearbox
2. Disconnect the coupling
3. Remove the crushing roll
Benefits:
- Reduced downtime
- g Increased safety
- g Enhanced gearbox protection
- from spills or contamination
THE TRACK LIFTING SYSTEM
The HAZEMAG HCS center sizer is designed with a track roll lifting device. This system facilitates the movement of the sizer from its working position to its maintenance or inspection position.
In this view, the sizer is positioned in its working position, under the hopper feed hood. Prior to the transport or movement of the sizer, all fasteners will be removed from both hood and the sizer base frame. Additionally, the crushing rolls will be secured or locked into position via the crushing roll locking device.
With the sizer now free from all securing fasteners, the sizer can be lifted or raised hydraulically into its mobile position.
Facilitated by a winch device, the sizer is pulled out from under the hopper to its inspection or maintenance position.
Now in its inspection or maintenance position, the sizer is lower and re-secured for safety. On an as needed basis, inspections or the exchange of any wear parts can now be performed.
Application
For the industrial beneficiation of primary and secondary raw materials, crushing procedures for the production of certain grain sizes, forms, surfaces or for the outcrop of multi-component materials play a central role.
The utilised crusher must meet stringent requirements of today’s time when processing rocks, ores and coals. Materials to be crushed become more and more difficult in terms of handling, high throughput capacities are required and the energy input is a key focus. Furthermore, crushing plants have changed to compact solutions due to investment cost. Consequently, crushers with low space requirements are having advantages, even for fully-mobile systems. Therefore the application of energy-efficient roll sizers with high throughput rates becomes more and more important from the economic and ecologic point of view.
- For the processing of soft to medium-hard raw materials
- Excellent solution when the raw material contains cohesive materials (clay) with a high moisture content
- Reduction of the feed material is generally achieved by a combination of compression and shearing, induced by two inward rotating crushing rolls operating at low speeds
- High capacity in a relatively small machine
- Easy installation due to minimal height
